abstract = {Meta-level architectures are recognized as a means to
achieve run-time extensibility, and have been applied
as such in existing hypermedia systems. Yet,
designing a good meta-level architecture is
notoriously hard and remains an art rather than a
science. This paper shows how to derive a meta-level
architecture for hypermedia navigation, thereby
providing a way to control how third-party components
interact with the linking engine. This extra level of
control allows for a better and safer integration
between an extensible system and the third-party
components extending it.},
